10 of the best mocktails in Riyadh you need to try right now

We’ll drink to these…

While we don’t think you need an excuse to visit the restaurants listed below, it’s World Cocktail Day on May 13, which means there’s even more reason to. Here at What’s On Saudi Arabia, we love a good mocktail and have decided to celebrate the occasion the right way. So, we’ve rounded up ten of the best mocktails in Riyadh for everyone to enjoy.

Negroni Pink, Il Baretto

Swanky Italian restaurant Il Baretto revels in ingredient geekery. Just ask bar manager Marco Livia, who ensures that all their signature and classic mocktails are crafted the Italian way and using only organic ingredients with zero produced sugar and syrup. We can highly recommend the Negroni Pink, a pink mocktail with a medley of delicious flavours. The dashes of bitters also help to enhance the citrus notes. It’s truly as gorgeous as it looks, making it a no-brainer summer mocktail and aperitif. Bellissimo!

Il Baretto, King Abdullah Financial District, Al Malqa, Riyadh 13521. Sun to Thurs 12.30pm to 4pm & 7pm to midnight, Fri & Sat 1pm to 4.30pm & 7pm to midnight. @ilbarettosa

Frescoes, LPM

Frescoes, LPM

Frescoes is an original mocktail of LPM’s global cocktail experience, “Recipes for our Friends”, which pays tribute to the celebrated French author, artist and bon vivant Jean Cocteau. An unmissable concoction, Frescoes brings together light bursts of peach, almond, and clementine with the complexity of Juniper syrup for an irresistible touch of savoury umami. The one-of-a-kind clarified milk punch is then topped with a delightful garnish of Juniper berries and presented in a hand-painted clay cup. As a little nod to Jean, the cup displays a whimsical drawing that you can find on the walls of his Haute-bohemian Santo Sospir villa at Sainte-Blaire-des-Simples.

LPM Riyadh, King Fahd Road, Street No. 38, Al Motassem Street, Al Olaya (behind Al Faisaliah Hotel), Sun to Thurs 12.30pm to 3.30pm, 6.30pm to 11pm, Fri & Sat 1pm to 4pm, 6.30pm to 11pm. @lpmriyadh

An exclusive to LPM Riyadh location, the Menthe À L’Eau Fizz – Strawberry is a delicately blended mocktail fusing fresh strawberries and lime with hints of mint in a delicious elixir served over three artisan ice balls. Using LPM’s bespoke clarification process, the colours of the ingredients are removed, delivering a clear mocktail that eloquently preserves the signature tastes and smells of every element it features. Also available in classic mint and tropical passionfruit flavours, Menthe À L’Eau Fizz makes for the perfect beverage to sip alongside any meal.

For those looking for something a little more theatrical, the Tomati-NO mocktail is sure to delight. It is a mixture of clarified tomato juice and cherry tomato shrub to draw attention to the complex flavours of sun-ripened tomatoes. Light, refreshing, and served with a statement, the mocktail is finished off with an aromatic touch of freshly ground pepper, added directly onto the beverage when served on the table with a dramatic oversized pepper grinder.

A sip of the Calypso will take you to the islands of Greece. This sophisticated mocktail features Botan Juniper Garden – a rich herbal blend of thyme, rosemary blossoms and wild Juniper berries – and mixed with sea salt, wild basil, elderflower and yuzu. At the same time, the caviar foam adds a dramatic flair to it. All in all, Calypso is a breath of fresh air, effortlessly elegant and makes a great palate cleanser.

If an over-the-top chemistry show is your thing, then Myazu is the place to be. Hinohana means flower of fire, and as the name suggests, it is a flaming mocktail. It has a balanced mix of peach soda, lavender syrup, hibiscus tea, and a dash of yuzu juice for a tart and sophisticated drink.

For those who prefer dessert in a glass, try the Smoking Pumpkin mocktail, which incorporates pumpkin puree, lychee nectar, fresh passion fruit, tobacco syrup, coconut milk, and of course, smoke. This punchy mocktail, topped with a toasted marshmallow, has the perfect sweetness with an underlying smoky flavour.

Nothing says summer like this refreshing Shizu Spritz mocktail. It’s light and crisp – watermelon, shiso (a herb in the mint family), orange bitters and citrus blend are mixed well and topped up with soda for a fresh finish.

ROKA Riyadh, 5140 Prince Muhammad Ibn Abd Al Azia, As Sulimaniyah, Riyadh 12243, Sun to Wed 1pm to 4.30pm & 6.30pm to midnight, Thurs to Sat 1pm to 12.30am. @rokariyadhofficial

Blackberry Smash, Yauatcha

Yauatcha Blackberry Smash

This mocktail is a twist on a classic warm weather beverage, the mint julep. Bursting with flavours of fresh blackberries, mint and Lyre’s American Malt, this is one seriously good summer mocktail.

Yauatcha, Al Faisaliah Mall, Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Rd, Al Olaya, Riyadh 12212, daily noon to midnight. @yauatchariyadh

Gin Mule, Yauatcha

Yauatcha Gin Mule

As the name indicates, there is ginger in this recipe: fresh ginger and ginger ale, a snappy soda that makes it an effervescent, memorable drink. Fused with lime juice and syrup, the drink’s flavour offers a refreshing contrast. Think a really gingery ginger ale with a lime kick.
