Saudi Arabia granted UK electronic visa waiver status

From June 1, visitors wishing to travel to the UK won’t need to obtain a visa, so long as they complete an online waiver…

Travel to the UK is set to become even easier for Saudi Arabian nationals next month, as the Kingdom is granted UK electronic visa waiver (EVW) status. As announced by the British Home Office today, Wednesday May 11, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain will join other GCC states in being granted the electronic visa waiver status.

Effective from June 1, Saudi nationals will be able to apply to travel to the UK for tourism, business, study or medical treatment with an electronic visa waiver, rather than obtaining a visa. Visitors from Saudi can visit the UK for up to six months with the electronic visa waiver.

The electronic visa waiver costs 30 GBP (approx SAR140), and must be applied for with every visit. The application can be done any time within three months and 48 hours prior to travel, and requires a valid passport, UK address and details of the journey. You can apply for the electronic visa waiver here.

“This visa waiver for Bahrain and Saudi Arabia will better connect the people of our countries and boost economic prosperity,” commented Home Secretary Priti Patel. “The electronic visa waiver is a quick, digital alternative to the regular visit visa and ensures all the necessary security checks are carried out in advance of travel. The visa improvements announced today will provide greater security for our citizens while making it easier and cheaper for visitors from the Gulf to travel here for leisure and business.”
