Here are eight wonderful things to do in Riyadh this week.

Sunday May 15

1. Embrace nature with Sacoor Brothers’ new collection

Sacoor Brothers

From formal styles for men and women to relaxed, casual styles, the outfits at Sacoor Brothers are tailored for an endless summer. The women’s line boasts oversized flowing and delicate dresses, denim made from recycled fabrics, knotted blouses to formal shirts and slim-fit suit sets and blazers. With subtle feminine details, we love that the colour palette has a natural yet rustic appeal. As for the menswear line, it combines functionality with classic European flair in an earthy base tone finished with bright prints and vibrant accents. From classic-cut suits to jeans, textured polos, jackets, trousers, printed shirts, knitwear and relaxed shorts with contrasting colour accents, the collection emphasises on a style that can easily transition you from office to evening.

Ladies, get ready to soak up the sun and life all around. Durrat Al Riyadh Resort & Spa is offering its outdoor pool every Monday and Wednesday to all you ladies who would like to work on your tan. Usually open to only males and children, we highly recommend that you take advantage of its outdoor pool during those days as it’s perfect for lounging in or simply spending a lazy afternoon with a book or drink in hand as you relish the tranquil surroundings of the resort.

4. Take part in a weaving masterclass

Amina Agueznay

Led by artist Amina Agueznay, the “Weaving Vernacular Visions” masterclass takes participants on a journey through the visual culture and the tactile significance of the woven thread. This workshop in weaving with wool puts participants and the artist together to share stories, cultural traditions, and the tactile process of creating a textile work. The product of this workshop will be a multi-technique textile work handcrafted by all participants, which will be displayed in the Masaha space for the duration of The Art Library exhibition.

“Weaving Vernacular Visions” Masterclass, May 16, 5pm to 10pm, Prince Faisal bin Fahd Fine Arts Hall, An Namudhajiyah, Riyadh 12731. Masterclass registration is done in person at the Hall, 30 minutes before the masterclass starts. @miskartinst

7. Immerse yourself in an art exhibition

Featuring works by Saudi and international artists, “Re-appearing Imaginaries” is not simply a reimagining of the past, but a caution to hold on to what is precious and at risk of being forgotten. The artists challenge our understanding of home, emphasising the risk of losing valuable information nature has been providing us for free for millennia as we realise that we are nearing finite expiry date. The exhibition raises questions about what it means to slow down, create awareness, and – where needed – call out to preserve and safeguard various traditions and practices.

“Re-Appearing Imaginaries” Exhibition, until Aug 15, 4pm to 10pm, Prince Faisal bin Fahd Fine Arts Hall, An Namudhajiyah, Riyadh 12731. @miskartinst
