Jason Atherton brings his casual fine-dining concept Marina Social to Jeddah
British celebrity chef Jason Atherton has opened Marina Social, his second restaurant in Saudi Arabia, at Jeddah Yacht Club…
It looks like Saudi Arabia has just gotten itself another top-tier restaurant.
Chef Jason Atherton, who’s no stranger to the country, was here last year to set up Maraya Social, the first fine dining restaurant in AlUla. And now, thanks to a partnership with Saudi businessman Abdelkarim Abbar, Chef Atherton has opened another fine dining restaurant in Jeddah.

Marina Social by Jason Atherton is an impressive-looking venue. Perched on the edge of the newly opened Jeddah Yacht Club, the restaurant’s decor is sleek and sophisticated.
Yet, the ambience is warm and welcoming; mixed with low-level lighting, woody tones, and marble interiors, this, combined with the gorgeous views of the marina, is worth the visit alone.
It also boasts an expansive terrace that may never be empty. Here, diners can enjoy cocktails and shisha against the backdrop of the Red Sea.
The restaurant is part of Chef Atherton’s successful “Social” restaurant empire, a concept he refers to as deformalised fine dining. His Social restaurants are meant to be places for friends to gather; to share a meal or just a dessert; to talk, connect and simply enjoy good food.
Take a seat and prepare to make some difficult choices from the innovative selection of the British-Mediterranean-inspired cuisine. The menu may not be that extensive, but it is perfectly formed. The creativity sizzling away in the kitchen includes steak tartare, whipped burrata with honey-glazed figs, seared yellowfin tuna, and garlic tiger prawns with fennel salad.
Finish the feast with sweet treats such as lemon cheesecake and coconut rice pudding with lime sorbet and mango compote.
A much-anticipated addition to Jeddah Yacht Club, the new restaurant certainly adds to the city’s cosmopolitan vibe.
