Located in the heart of Riyadh on the rooftop of Majdoul Tower (yes, it’s that twisted tower near AlOwais Market), Clap, an award-winning Japanese cuisine restaurant, opens its pop-up restaurant today.

The pop-up edition forms part of Riyadh Season’s new zone, the Riyadh Sky, and will run from Tuesday November 15 to Friday December 30. Following this, a permanent address is expected to open at Ramla Tower in early 2023.

The space at the rooftop of Majdoul Tower comprises an indoor restaurant, open-air terrace, and lounge with a playful yet chic, contemporary aesthetic. The views aren’t the only elevated thing at this glitzy venue. The stunning restaurant and open kitchen create an atmosphere of buzzing finesse, paired with deliciously curated dishes and an impressive array of mocktails.

Unexpected and surprising combinations elevate the menu with Japanese flavours, with dishes ranging from smaller plates, such as rock shrimp, and the signature Kyoen sushi platter with the chef’s selection of sushi, sashimi and maki rolls, to more indulgent mains, such as the black cod, and mouthwatering desserts like the Matcha cheesecake with yoghurt sorbet and raspberry seeds.

The mocktails are carefully made with a passion for uniqueness with ingredients based on their freshness, distinguished aromas, flavour profiles and origins that complement the dining experience. The in-house mixologist will guide guests through a journey of discovery with beverages, such as Shinsenna, with passion fruit, rectified pomegranate juice, yuzu and matcha salt, and the Sakura Glory with plum compote, jasmine, tonka bean and citrus.

Drawing inspiration from Tokyo’s electric nightspots, guests can expect the unexpected when dining at Clap and experience a high-energy atmosphere. There will be a weekly line-up of local and international DJs, plus it’s open until 2am, making it quite the party spot.

Clap has been acclaimed for its unmatched service, innovative cuisine, and exceptional ambience since 2018. The award-winning restaurant has set benchmarks, featured in the notable Michelin Guide 2022, and conferred a prestigious one-toque status in the UAE’s first Gault&Millau 2022 awards. It has also been recognised on MENA’s 50 Best Restaurants list, making it one of the most sought-after destinations.
