Restaurant Review: Tokyo

Crowd-favourite Japanese food in the heart of Riyadh…

Top-tier food, an insanely hospitable staff, and a calming ambience are just some of the many reasons you need to grab your favourite pair of chopsticks and head out on the town to Tokyo Arabia.

If you’re in the mood for some comforting Japanese classics, there are very few places better than Tokyo and even fewer with the amount of experience that it has. The brand first opened its doors in October 1985 and has since only delivered the best of the best to its customers.

You make your way in through the brightly coloured red door and walk into the sleek and modern dining areas. The venue combines fine-dining fare in the industrial-themed dining area. Once you’ve gotten to your table, you’ll have already met the amazing staff on hand that seemingly has a sixth sense for just what you need and when you need it.

Tokyo Arabia is not just all looks though, the venue has a ton to offer on the foodie front too. We started with warm and earthy Miso Soup (SAR34) which is the perfect bowl of goodness that’s exactly what the doctor ordered. Next up, we tried the ever-so-refreshing signature Crispy Crab Salad (SAR79) and the vibrant signature Tokyo Shrimp Blast (SAR79). And don’t forget to order one of the signature drinks like the delicious Tokyo Berry Blast (SAR43) too.

Also, you can’t go to a Japanese restaurant and not try some sushi. Grab your chopsticks and dig into rolls like tasty Crunchy Crazy California (SAR69), the signature Saad Maki (SAR64) made with deep-fried shrimp, crab, sweet potato, mint and special sauce, and the Salmon Sashimi (SAR59).

On to the meat…

For main courses, the Japanese Style Mushroom Rice Pot With Truffle Butter (SAR91) is a solid choice alongside the straight-up star of the show, the Spicy Sweet Beef Tenderloin (SAR110). And trust us, you need to try this steak covered with spicy sweet sauce.

Our meal ended with the Ramadan special date cake topped with Cotton Floss, gold leaves, and Saffron sauce (SAR58), which is this indulgent, sweet, and warm dessert that hits all the right spots. We’re certain that this venue deserves to be banged on about.
