Travel to the UK is so much easier for Saudi citizens now

Britain just launched the Electronic Travel Authorisation Scheme (ETA)…

It’s officially that time of year when travel becomes all the rage, and have you got the news for you. If you’re one of the many Saudis that love travelling to the UK, you’re in luck. The British Electronic Travel Authorisation Scheme (ETA) just launched making travel to the country cheaper and faster.

What that means for us here in Saudi is that you no longer need a visa to travel to the UK, instead, you can just apply for the Electronic Travel Authorisation Scheme (ETA) and be set for two years. The new travel scheme will allow GCC and Jordanian citizens to travel to the UK for a small fee of SAR47 (£10).

The rule change applies to the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and also Jordan, (including Saudi of course)

Previously, Saudi citizens used to have to pay £30, SAR141 ($37) and apply for a separate document for every visit. The new British Electronic Travel Authorisation Scheme (ETA) will allow all GCC nationals to visit the UK multiple times in the two-year period.

Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick said: “Visitors from the Gulf states and Jordan make a huge contribution to the UK’s tourism industry and the new ETA scheme will make it easier and cheaper for them to travel to the UK.

The scheme is set to launch for Qatari nationals in October 2023, and for the rest of the Gulf Cooperation Council states and Jordan in February 2024 ahead of a worldwide expansion throughout 2024.

Moreover, the application process is set to super fast and easy to complete with the process being entirely available digitally via a mobile phone app. Applicants will need to provide a digital photograph and answer a set of suitability questions.

Ready. Set. Fly.
