This incredible desert resort will be built into the rocks in AlUla

It’s set to be a very unique project…

AlUla’s breathtaking desert landscape is already home to awe-inspiring resorts including Habitas and Banyan Tree. But more jaw-dropping resorts are set to transform this enclave of flame-hued desert. Plans have been unveiled for a property, dubbed Sharaan Resort 3, that will be built into the craggy peaks of Sharaan, making for a one-of-a-kind getaway.

The resort, shared via a LinkedIn post from the Royal Commission for AlUla’s Vice President of development and construction management, has been designed by Jordanian-based Khammash Architects, who specialise in design projects that lend themselves to the natural landscape. Rather than damaging the local geology, their projects are designed around what already exists.

This applies not only to the layout, but also the colours and textures, which all blend seamlessly into the breathtaking AlUla surrounds.

According to a statement shared with What’s On from the RCU, the resort will be “a very unique project following the form of Sharaan’s unique rock formations.” While we don’t know much more than that, we are promised that the new resort will provide guests with “dramatic distant vistas of the surrounding nature.” We can’t wait to find out more.

More new openings in AlUla

As AlUla continues to expand its offering of ever-impressive resorts, more incredible hotels are gearing up to open. Among them, renowned architect Jean Nouvel has designed a Sharaan Resort, complete with 38 suites, a spa and wellness centre, a kids club, a mountain-top fine dining restaurant and the Sharaan International Summit Centre. Construction recently began.

Elsewhere, the renowned AZULIK brand from Mexico will debut in AlUla in 2027, creating a stunning eco-luxury property in the Nabatean Horizon District. It will house 76 luxury villas of six different kinds, a spa, a VIP club, welcome lounges, all-day dining, and an SFER IK museum.

Icons of luxury Aman are also gearing up to open three properties in AlUla, one under the Aman brand, one under the Janu brand, and a third ranch-style property.
