Riyadh Art launches an open call for Tuwaiq Sculpture 2024
Here’s how you can be a part of the event…
Riyadh is quickly on its way to becoming a massive art capital in the world, and an initiative putting the city on the map when it comes to art is Riyadh Art. The first national public art initiative in Saudi Arabia, Riyadh Art is focused on transforming the city into a gallery without walls, and one of the projects bringing about the change is Tuwaiq Sculpture 2024.
To support this art initiative, TISS invites stone sculptors of all nationalities to participate in the symposium. Applicants must have at least five years of experience and have their work displayed in outdoor spaces and galleries.
Happening from Sunday January 14 to Thursday February 8, 2024, the fifth edition of the Tuwaiq International Sculpture Symposium (TISS) will be held under the theme of “Dimensions of Movement.”
After an intense review process, 30 local and international sculptors will be invited to participate in the symposium. Artists will then create large-scale sculptures in a live setting, made from Saudi-sourced granite of three different colours. Entries can be submitted online from now until August 31.
The theme aims to explore progress and expansion, reflecting the accelerating advancements of modern society like a contemporary tribute to Futurism
