The first-ever canal to be built in Saudi Arabia is coming to Jeddah

The new development will offer a global sea destination…

The Red Sea in Saudi Arabia is constantly being lit up with incredible megaprojects like AMAALA, Sindalah Island, and now MARAFY by ROSHN is coming soon too.

Lighting up the shores of The Red Sea, MARAFY will carve out an 11-kilometre-long, 100-meter-wide urban water corridor connected to Obhur Creek.

MARAFY is set to be a transformative, mixed-use development in the north of Jeddah that will accommodate over 130,000 residents with an 11-kilometre-long manmade canal at its centre.

The new development will offer a new waterfront around the canal and will also be the first-ever to be built in Saudi Arabia and ROSHN’s first fully mixed-use development. The canal will connect to and extend Obhur Creek and will be surrounded by multiple unique districts.

Let us put the new development into perspective, the new waterfront alone will be comparable in size to those of Chicago, Stockholm, Hamburg, and central London.

The incredible multi-use development will be surrounded by multiple distinct districts including ROSHN’s existing integrated residential development, ALAROUS. The area aims to reinvent contemporary urban living while still maintaining a connection to Jeddah’s historical heritage.

The diverse waterside districts will be connected to each other and the rest of Jeddah by water taxis, bus lines, a dedicated Metro Red Line station, and a direct canal link to the King Abdulaziz International Airport.

David Grover Group CEO of ROSHN Group commented on the announcement, “It is core to us as a gigaproject to introduce such huge development to the kingdom, MARAFY will be a game changer on the real estate development sector, raising the bar of development in the region, boosting the quality of life, and creating a huge impact in Jeddah.”
