Saudi Ministry of Culture announces brand-new art museum

Art fans in Riyadh, you’re in luck, as the Saudi Ministry of Culture (MOC) is now opening a new museum in Riyadh’s up-and-coming arts district, JAX Diriyah. The MOC will launch the Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art at Jax ‘SAMoCA,’ soon.

Opening in Diriyah and set to be inaugurated on Wednesday November 1, the new venue will act as a platform to showcase the best art practices and contemporary artworks. The space will empower local artists and provide a venue for networking and exchanging knowledge.

The Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art will be one of the Kingdom’s largest and most ambitious collecting institutes.

The new museum will be launched with the International Biennale of Contemporary Art of the South, Bienalsur. It will be the third edition of the event in Riyadh. To be hosted under the theme of “Imagine: Fantasies, Dreams, Utopia,” the exhibition will showcase the artworks of more than 400 artists from 27 nationalities.
