First look: Inside the gorgeous African Lounge, part of Riyadh’s Flamingo Collection

Fans of the new dining destination by Tashas Group in Bujairi Terrace are probably already well aware of the stunning Flamingo Room.
And now, mere steps away lies their gorgeous African Lounge – part of the three unique concepts under one roof, with a terrific terrace letting you take full advantage of the Flamingo Collection’s location and the historic At-Turaif as the backdrop.
The epitome of African glamour, African Lounge is the third concept to open on Friday December 1 at Flamingo Collection, following the successful debut of Flamingo Room by Tashas and Collective Africa, a luxury retail concept.

Here’s a sneak peek of how the African Lounge looks ahead of its opening.
Take the lift from the Flamingo Room main dining room and head to the first floor, and you know – just like their other concepts – African Lounge will certainly make a statement.
As soon as you step inside, you’ll be greeted by an eclectic mix of bright and bold hues and an ostentatiously designed bar counter. The intimate space is African-inspired, the vibe is relaxed, and the opulent decor is a feast for the senses.
Comprising a canopied indoor lounge area, African Lounge is draped in heavy-textured curtains and swathed in safari green with undulating sofas and velvet tasselled armchairs, alongside a playful display of animal-inspired furnishings.
It is glamorous and chic – but not overly thematic. The ambience is truly out of this world, with expertly crafted mocktails and food on offer.
The African Lounge has a different menu from the Flamingo Room, serving a selection of small sharing plates and sweet treats. Highlights include Grilled Bao and Malay Spiced Butter, Calamari Sosaties, Butternut Curry, and traditional South African Bobotie. Meanwhile, sweet lovers can enjoy desserts that celebrate the sweet fruits and spiced caramel flavours found across the savannahs, deserts, and forests of Africa. A curated list of mocktails complements the offering, championing ingredients across the continent, such as mandarin, peach, rooibos tea, almond, and kalamansi.
In the cooler months like now, it’s all best enjoyed on the terrace, with front-row seats to the buzzy atmosphere of Bujairi Terrace and At-Turaif.
Whether you’re sitting outdoors or lounging in one of its luxurious, cosy booths indoors, you’ll be surrounded by a dynamic and lively atmosphere, perfect for soaking up the energy and the magic of Africa.
Riyadh marks the second opening for the new concept, with the space recently opened at Flamingo Collection in Abu Dhabi, located on Al Maryah Island. There are also plans for the African Lounge in Riyadh to serve afternoon tea, so watch this space for more updates.
