You can soon check in to Bab Samhan, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Diriyah
It will be the first hotel to open within Diriyah in early 2024…
The hotly anticipated Wadi Safar project and Saudi Arabia’s first-ever opera house in Riyadh’s Diriyah aren’t the only exciting news coming out of this historic destination this week.
Master developer Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) has revealed that Bab Samhan, a Luxury Collection Hotel, will be the first of Diriyah’s 42 hotels that we can check in to early next year.
The 135-room property in the north of Diriyah is made entirely out of mud and built in the Najdi architectural style, with the hotel’s design seamlessly marrying tradition and luxury.
Guests will be taken back in time to celebrate the beauty and serenity of Najdi architecture and interiors, with traditional timber ceilings, adobe material finishes, and traditional Najdi patterns reflected in the walls, windows, doors, and fabric patterns.

Offering a wide range of facilities, the hotel features 27 suites, a spa with an indoor swimming pool, a fitness centre, an all-day dining venue, coffee and juice bar, and two signature restaurants, one of which will be operated by renowned celebrity chef Michael Mina.
Bab Samhan boasts not just a luxurious stay, but also an immersion into the cultural heart of Diriyah.
Nestled amongst the natural beauty of Wadi Hanifah and Bujairi Terrace, guests can experience the Kingdom’s rich past as they walk around the hotel’s passages and courtyards and visit the Unesco Heritage Site of At-Turaif.
After completing rejuvenation works across more than six kilometres of Wadi Hanifah, Diriyah has restored the ancient valley’s natural landscape with native flora and fauna, demonstrating its dedication to sustainability. All while elevating the quality of life for those who live, work and visit “Diriyah, The City of Earth”.
The Diriyah Art Futures is also located within walking distance from the Bab Samhan hotel. It is the first centre in the region dedicated to new media and digital arts, which will feature an exhibition space, educational programming focused on the intersection between arts, science, and technology, and a state-of-the-art laboratory providing artists with the means to experiment and produce artworks.

The news was announced as part of the inaugural Bashayer 2023, a new event to showcase the progress of the Diriyah Company. Day 2 of the event also saw the ground-breaking of four hotels: The Ritz-Carlton Diriyah (195 keys), Address Diriyah (204-room hotel with 60 serviced apartments), Capella Diriyah (100 rooms), and Four Seasons Hotel Diriyah (150 rooms).
Natural extensions of Diriyah’s unique topography, these hotels are also inspired by Najdi architecture.
The Ritz-Carlton Diriyah
Expected to open in 2026, The Ritz-Carlton, Diriyah is anticipated to bring the brand’s legendary service and exquisite design to the cultural destination. Plans for the hotel include 195 guestrooms featuring 34 suites along with a speciality restaurant, all-day dining venue, meeting rooms, outdoor pool, and fitness centre. There will also be a kids’ club with the brand’s signature Ritz Kids offering, a signature spa and other immersive guest programmes.
Along with The Ritz-Carlton, Diriyah and Bab Samhan, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Diriyah, Marriott International and Diriyah have previously announced the signings of an EDITION Hotel and a Moxy Hotel.
