Queensberry Promotions and Matchroom Boxing set for historic five-versus-five fight night in Riyadh

Two heavyweight names in the boxing business are set to go head-to-head in Riyadh: get ready for Queensberry Promotions vs Matchroom Boxing.

Turki Alalshikh, the Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority (GEA) took to X to announce that an epic showdown is coming to Riyadh, which will see Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions boxers take on Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing stars in an unmissable five-versus-five bout.

At the moment, no date or location has been given, but we do know it will take place as part of Riyadh Season – so fans won’t have long to wait. The announcement confirmed a date would be released in March, during the Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou fight week. At the same time as the bout between the British boxer and former UFC champion, titled Rumble in Riyadh and set to take place on March 8 at Kingdom Arena, it’s expected that the fight card will also be released.

“This type of agreement is what boxing fans have been waiting for,” Alalshikh said in a statement. “As the best champions of the world are going to be part of the five-versus-five fight night. Riyadh Calendar is looking forward to hosting more exciting events,” the announcement continued.

“The unique partnerships promise boxing fans from around the globe more unforgettable sports events.”

Boxing matches to bookmark

Before the bout between Queensberry Promotions and Matchroom Boxing’s top talents, Riyadh is set to host the biggest match in boxing history next month. On February 17, Ring of Fire will see two undefeated boxing champs, Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, fight it out for the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. All the belts in the heavyweight division are on the line when the two face off in Riyadh in a few weeks. Tickets start from SAR175.

Then it will be the turn of Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou on March 8, where more details on the five-versus-five are set to be revealed.
