Scroll to plan your week…

From enjoying a new film to indulging in the city’s culinary delights, this week’s guide is packed with exciting activities that are sure to keep you entertained.

Here are seven fun things to do in Jeddah this week.

Sunday May 26

A place to call home for the day

Humming Tree is a Jeddah co-working space and community centre based out of a villa. It has a relaxed, creative feel, a great buzz, and a tight-knit community, with excellent facilities, including event space and inspiring and quirky breakout spaces. All that you need to get a great day’s work done.

Humming Tree, Al Misk, Al-Hamra’a, Jeddah 23321. @hummingtreecommunity

Monday May 27

Watch a new film

Monday blues? Why not grab the popcorn and catch “The Garfield Movie”? Garfield (voiced by Chris Pratt), the world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure. After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father – scruffy street cat Vic (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson) – Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist. Plus, if you buy a ticket at Muvi Cinemas, you’ll get a second one for just SAR10.

On the hunt for sushi?

Whipping up classic Japanese dishes with a twist, the newly opened Ricci San is the spot to come if you’re looking for all manner of sashimi, ceviche, sushi rolls, and noodle dishes. The decor, lighting and cosy corners here are all creating a romantic vibe – perfect for a date, in our opinion – and the food is pretty good to boot, too.

Ricci San, King Abdul Aziz Rd, Abhur Al Junoobiyah, Jeddah 21451, Weekdays 7.30pm to 12.30am & Weekends 7.30pm to 1.30am. Tel: 050 003 1777. @ricci.san

May 28 is International Burger Day. And there’s no better pleasure than the first bite of the perfect burger. Lou is the perfect way to start the week with a classic burger experience. Less is more here with its pared-back menu of two beef burgers available.

Lou Burger, Al Khayat Centre 2, Al Andalus, Jeddah 23322, Sun to Wed 5pm to 1am & Thurs to Sat 5pm to 2am. @lou.jeddah

Unlike your typical zen-like pilates studio, KARVE promises a “new style of workout” with pulsating music and dimmed lights. Using custom-designed reformer machines, the 50-minute classes are fun and fast-flowing, focusing on strength training and driving the metabolism through mindful, resistance-based movements. You’ll finish every session with five minutes of mindfulness and breathwork to help you wind down.

Immerse yourself in art at Hayy Jameel

Two exhibitions are on view at Hayy Arts in Hayy Jameel this summer. The first is ‘Salt-Kissed: Of Vessels That Have Sailed The Red Sea’, a collection of untold narratives anchored by the stories of eight ships that once sailed the Red Sea, bearing witness to the idiosyncrasies within its swarming body. A Saudi artist, Ahaad Alamoudi, meanwhile, fronts an exhibition of her own: ‘Moving Mountains’. Are we living in a time of particularly rapid social change? And how might we know? Only one way to find out.

Hayy Arts, Hayy Jameel, Arwa bint Abdulmutalib Street, Al Muhammadiyah District, Jeddah, Sun, Mon, Wed & Thurs 10am to 8pm, Fri 2pm to 10pm & Sat noon to 8pm. Both exhibitions run until Oct 26. @hayyjameel

Catch the sunset at Alieia

Jeddah does sunset really well. Like, really well. Given how much we all love a good sunset, then how better to celebrate the daily best show on earth than by raising a glass and a fork at the Greek restaurant Alieia? The food itself is notably excellent, as is the ever-changing skyline as you watch from the tables at the restaurant.

Alieia, Movenpick Jeddah Al Nawras, Ash Shati, Jeddah 23417, Mon to Sat 2.30pm to 11.30pm. Tel: 012 578 8230. @alieia.me
