Everything you need to know about the Esports World Cup 2024
The major Esports event is happening next month…
The largest global competition of its kind is all set to be held annually in Riyadh starting this summer. The Esports World Cup 2024 will kick off on Tuesday July 2 with a fun opening show and go on until Sunday August 25 at Boulevard Riyadh City.
The new event will provide a platform to support the gaming and esports sectors and to firmly plant the Kingdom’s position as a hub for international esports and sports competitions. Here’s everything you need to know about the mega-event.
Esports World Cup history

Previously known as Gamers8, this is the first time the Esports World Cup debuts in the capital with its new name and bigger identity. Set to be the largest event in Esports history, this World Cup will feature the world’s best clubs and leading titles. The Esports World Cup will host 20 major tournaments across 19 esports titles.
Gamers8 used to be held eight weeks every year from July until September in both 2022 and 2023 and featured the most exciting concerts, gaming competitions, and interactive activities. So, we can only imagine what the new version has in store.
Concerts
Currently, the concerts that have been announced include Majid Almohandis on Friday July 5, Abdulmajeed Abdullah on Wednesday July 10, Amr Diab on Thursday July 18, Assalah and Ahmed Saad on Sunday July 21, Amima Talib, Fahd Al-Kubisi and Rashed Al-Fares on Monday July 29.
In August, Nabil Shaeel and the Miami band on Tuesday August 6, Tamer Hosny will be taking the stage on Thursday August 8, followed by Nawal and Ahlam on Monday August 12, after which we’re looking forward to a massive concert by Nancy Ajram and Ayed on Thursday August 15, and Mohamed Hamaki on Thursday August 22 all at the Mohammad Abdo Arena.
In previous years, the massive gaming festival has played host to the likes of Steve Aoki, Imagine Dragons, and Mishaal Tamer, among other major artists.
At the moment, performing stars for the opening show on Tuesday July 2 haven’t been announced yet, so stay tuned to What’s On Saudi Arabia for the latest.

The competitions taking place will be:
- Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup 2024 starting at SAR12 : Wednesday July 3- Sunday July 14
- Counter-Strike 2 x EWC starting at SAR20: Thursday July 18-Sunday July 21
- League of Legends x EWC starting at SAR from SAR20: Thursday July 4-Sunday July 7
- Dota 2 x EWC (starting at SAR20: Wednesday July 10-Sunday July 21
- Free Fire x x EWC starting at SAR12: Wednesday July 10-Sunday July 14

Tickets

Prize pool
With a USD60 million prize pool, at the massive event, you can see 2,500 elite athletes of the world’s greatest esports clubs in action as the Esports World Cup 2024 will be welcoming a new cross-game competition format.
Zones
There are three main zones you need to check out which include STC Gaming Hall, and the POWR and Falcon venues.
The STC Gaming Hall is a vibrant community centre for all Esports enthusiasts where you can meet professional gamers, tournaments, and enjoy interactive activities.
Next up, a central venue where you can meet members of the Saudi Esports company POWR and interact with the players through stage activities, games, and challenges.
Lastly, you can also meet the Saudi gaming team Falcons at their venue. Here you can meet your favourite content creators from the Falcons team, and enjoy daily activities with the team.
