While we’re enjoying a sunny summer out here in Saudi Arabia, it’s important to remember when we’ll be heading back to school or university (or as we like to call it, the return to reality). These are the key Saudi academic calendar 2024-2025 dates.

Just this week, Saudi Arabia announced the academic calendar for the next five years. In 2024-2025, the academic year will begin on August 18 2024 and end on 26 June 2025, including an eight-week summer vacation.
Like previous academic years, the 2024-2025 years will also be three semesters. The first semester will begin on August 18 2024, the second semester will then begin on November 17 2024, and lastly, the third semester will begin on March 2 2025. Long weekends during the semester are yet to be announced.
For public holidays like National Day, Founding Day, Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Fitr students will be enjoying days off during the terms too.
It is to be noted that some schools are allowing flexible returns to school provided that they comply with the Ministry of Education’s minimum school days.
For academic years after 2024-2025, the Ministry of Education is yet to determine whether a three-semester will continue or if we’ll return to the two-semester system. However, each institute must complete a minimum of 38 weeks of education (180 days).
