There's going to be an A.R. Rahman concert in Riyadh

Ask any Desi expat in Riyadh who their favourite singer is, and A.R. Rahman is bound to come up, so imagine our delight when we find out the star is set to make his Riyadh debut next month. Yes, you read that right. We’re going to welcome an A.R. Rahman concert in Riyadh this February.
Happening on Friday February 21, A.R. Rahman will be taking the stage at the capital’s Dirab Park located on Jabal Ajyad Road in Dahiat Namar.

The Indian music composer, record producer, singer, songwriter, musician, and multi-instrumentalist is known predominantly for his work in Indian cinema; mostly in Tamil and Hindi films, with occasional cameos in international cinema.
The musician has been the recipient of several accolades, including six National Film Awards, two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award, six Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, fifteen Filmfare Awards, and eighteen Filmfare Awards South.
A.R. Rahman’s film career began in 1992 when he started Panchathan Record Inn, a recording and mixing studio in his backyard, which later became the most advanced recording studio in India. His first Hollywood score came with the 2009 comedy Couples Retreat, which won the BMI London Award for Best Score.
He often employs contemporary instruments such as guitars, cellos, flutes, strings, keyboards, fingerboards, harpejji, and santoors and traditional Indian instruments such as shehnai, sitar, mrudangam, veena and tabla to create scores, so you can look forward to a beautiful fusion of contemporary and traditional Indian music.
We can only imagine what the Riyadh concert has in store for us.
