The incredible Art of the Kingdom exhibition is coming to Riyadh

The exhibition debuted in Brazil…

After a successful run in Rio de Janeiro, the Museums Commission announced that “Art of the Kingdom: Poetic Illuminations,” will be making its way to the Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art at JAX District.

Happening from Monday February 24 to Thursday April 24, the exhibition is the first travelling group exhibition of Saudi contemporary artists.

Showcasing works by 17 prominent Saudi artists from different generations, regions, and artistic practices. From paintings to installations and video works, the artworks shed light on Saudi Arabia’s history, collective memory, and cultural traditions.

Organized by the Museums Commission, Art of the Kingdom was previously on display at the historic Paço Imperial in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in November 2024, where it attracted 26,000 visitors.

After the Riyadh edition, the artworks will be travelling to the National Museum in China, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Saudi-Chinese diplomatic relations.

The event will feature several high-profile artists: Muhannad Shono, Lina Gazzaz, Manal AlDowayan, Ayman Zedani, Moath Alofi, Ahmed Mater, Ahaad Alamoudi, Shadia Alem, Faisal Samra, Ayman Yossri Daydban, Daniah Al Saleh, Filwa Nazer, Sarah Brahim, Ahmad Angawi, Nasser Al Salem, Basmah Felemban, and Fatma Abdulhadi.

The new edition will also feature newly commissioned site-specific works, making the Riyadh version more unique. This exhibition showcases the diversity and ambition of contemporary Saudi artists, forging new cultural narratives on the world stage.
