Jeddah's arthouse cinema is now open in Al Balad
Pass the popcorn…
If you fell in love with Saudi Arabia’s first arthouse cinema in Riyadh, you’ll be delighted to know that Jeddah is getting its slice of the action (the genre, of course). Welcome to Cinema Al Balad Jeddah.
Running until Sunday June 15, the cinema takes after Al-Jumjum Cinema, the first open-air cinema in Saudi Arabia, this space that actually laid the foundation for outdoor film screenings across the historic neighborhoods of Jeddah. Tickets were just SAR10 and showtimes began at 7pm and 9pm.

Cinema Al Balad will be carrying on a very rich legacy, showcasing a diverse collection of Saudi films, classic cinema, and global masterpieces. The cinema aims to highlight local talent by curating a calendar filled with short films, features, and documentaries from both emerging and established Saudi filmmakers.
Beyond screenings, Cinema Al Balad Jeddah will offer several cinema workshops and creative panels, featuring acclaimed directors, actors, cinematographers, screenwriters, composers, editors, and more, drawing titans from both local and global industries.
Housed inside Haret Al-Mazloum in AlBalad, the cinema is open in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture. Complete with Hijazi-style interiors, and outdoor air-conditioning, the theatre is meant to be a vibrant gathering space where artists and film lovers can share their work, exchange ideas, and bring impactful stories to life.
