Riyadh's new King Salman International Airport to develop three terminals

Bechtel has won the deal…

When it was first announced, the new King Salman International Airport became the ultimate icon of travel transformation. This is what you need to know about the three new terminals at King Salman International Airport.

Set to accommodate up to 120 million travellers by 2030, the new airport will have the capacity to process 180 million travellers and 3.5 million tonnes of cargo by 2050.

According to Saudi Gazette, Bechtel will undertake the development of three new terminals at King Salman International Airport. The company will manage the implementation of a new terminal dedicated to commercial airlines and an additional new terminal numbered 6, in addition to a third terminal dedicated to private aviation, which includes aircraft maintenance facilities.

Bechtel’s President of Infrastructure, Darren Mort, described the King Salman International Airport project as one of the most prominent aviation projects in the world today.

King Salman International Airport is expected to be one of the largest airports, with an area of 57 square metres and six parallel runways.

Architecture firm Foster + Partners has been appointed to design the airport’s expansive master plan. There are set to be multiple terminals and a multi-use real estate area, all designed to reflect Riyadh’s cultural identity, providing travellers with an authentic Saudi experience.

His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman Al-Saud launched the master plan for the new airport back in 2022, as one of the companies owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
