20 new trains coming in for the Haramain High-Speed Railway
This will increase passenger capacity to 30 million annually
The Haramain High-Speed Railway makes travelling to Makkah and Madinah so much easier. To add to our convenience, the Kingdom has just announced that 20 new Haramain High-Speed Railway trains are coming.
The deal was announced on Sunday by Saudi Arabian Railways (SAR) under the patronage of Minister of Transport and Logistics Services Saleh Al-Jasser, who is also chairman of SAR, and in the presence of Spain’s Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility Oscar Puente, according to Saudi Gazette.

20 new Haramain High-Speed Railway trains
The new trains are scheduled to begin delivery at the end of 2028, with full delivery expected by 2031. Once operational, the trains will serve the entire Haramain High-Speed Railway network, which connects Makkah and Madinah through five stations.
What is the Haramain High-Speed Railway?
It is a fast electric train connecting Makkah with Madinah via a double railway line and further connecting the two cities to Jeddah too. Launched in September 2018, it is one of the largest train projects in the Middle East. The railway is a 453 km long express railway linking Madinah and Makkah. It has a 449 km line from Makkah to Madinah and a 3.75 km branch connection to King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.

Ticket prices start at SAR34.5 for the King Abdulaziz International Airport to Makkah route, and the schedule can be found on the app. Next up we have the route that goes from Sulimaniyah, Jeddah to Makkah starting at SAR23, you can even take a train from King Abdullah Economic City to Makkah starting at SAR78.
