In pics: UK’s Prince William has arrived in Riyadh
The Prince of Wales is undertaking a three-day visit to Saudi Arabia this week
In case you missed it, Prince William has arrived in Saudi Arabia.
Stepping off the plane, His Royal Highness took a moment to acknowledge those receiving him. He later described it as “a pleasure” to be welcomed by the Deputy Governor of Riyadh Region, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, at the Royal Terminal of King Khalid International Airport.
Here are some images from Day 1 of Prince William’s visit in Riyadh.
Prince William is undertaking a three-day visit at the request of the UK Government, from today (Monday February 9) to Wednesday February 11.
According to Kensington Palace, the timing reflects a period of momentum between the UK and Saudi Arabia, as both countries celebrate growing trade, energy, and investment ties – and approach a century of diplomatic relations.
If the official reception was polished, the evening delivered something much more atmospheric. Prince William later visited At-Turaif with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, stepping into the heart of Diriyah, the birthplace of the Saudi nation.
For centuries, Diriyah has served as a beacon of diplomacy and a witness to defining moments. Here, the nation’s first banner was raised, and during this visit, it flew high once again to welcome the Prince of Wales.
As he wandered through At-Turaif’s iconic mud-brick architecture, Prince William explored a place where history is not just preserved but vibrantly alive – a space where relationships are forged and futures quietly unfold.
This trip marks the prince’s first official overseas visit of 2026 and his first trip to the Middle East since his 2023 visit to Kuwait.
