KSA Weather: More rain, flash floods, and hail on the way
Stay safe out there
The weather across Saudi Arabia has been nothing short of unpredictable lately (sandstorms, rain, high-speed winds, you name it, we had it), and the National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) has just warned that more heavy rain and flash floods are hitting several regions of Saudi Arabia today (Tuesday April 14).
The rainy weather conditions will be experienced in the southern and western parts of the Riyadh region, as well as in the eastern parts of the Makkah, Asir, and Al-Baha regions, according to Saudi Gazette.

The Saudi Press Agency also warns of expectations of moderate to heavy thunderstorms leading to flash floods in valleys and ravines, accompanied by hail showers and active strong surface winds that may reach high speeds in Riyadh, Najran, Jazan, Asir, Al Baha, Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and Madinah Al-Munawwarah, extending to Hail and Al-Qassim. The weather conditions will be accompanied by fog formation, reducing horizontal visibility in some areas.
Hussein Al-Qahtani, spokesperson of NCM, stressed that the expected weather conditions require taking precautions, especially in areas prone to flash floods. He underlined the need to follow the centre’s continuous weather updates. Al-Qahtani urged the public to adhere to the instructions and guidelines issued by the competent authorities, and to keep away from valleys and flood passages.
According to the National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) early warning system, parts of the Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, Madinah, Makkah, and Asir regions are currently under red alert. Most of the Eastern Province is on orange alert for high-speed winds, near-zero visibility, hail, flash floods, and thunderstorms.
For all of these alerts, sudden weather shifts are the main concerns, so stay tuned for the latest.
The National Centre of Meteorology alerts always include start and end times, which are important because conditions shift quickly, so keep checking here for the latest.
