Diriyah Art Futures is launching a summer camp for the next generation of digital artists
A three-week summer camp in Riyadh will offer teenage creatives the opportunity to explore digital art, photography, sound, animation, and 3D design alongside industry specialists
Calling all creatively inclined teens. Diriyah Art Futures (DAF) has announced the launch of its first-ever Art Futures Camp, a three-week programme introducing young artists to digital art, photography, sound, animation, and fabrication.
Running from Sunday June 28 to Thursday July 16, the inaugural camp will welcome 14 Arabic-speaking teenagers aged 14 to 18 for an immersive creative experience in Riyadh.
Probably not your average summer activity…
Built around the theme of Digital Art and Portraiture, the programme will explore how identity is represented in a world where images move instantly online and personal data is constantly evolving. The heavy concept aside, the workshops themselves sound seriously fun.
Participants will get hands-on experience with everything from laser cutting and 3D printing to digital photography, motion effects, collage, and even sound recording and synthesis. Imagine being in a creative studio environment where teens can experiment, make things, and learn directly from specialists working in the field.

Throughout the three weeks, attendees will participate in specialised workshops.
- Fab Lab: Learning laser cutting, 3D printing, and basic electronic circuits with fabrication specialists Issa Chebaro and Aisha AlShehri;
- Digital Photography, 3D, and Motion Effects: Exploring digital studio portraiture, collage, and animation with specialists Sarah Kamal and Sara Garf; and
- Sound Studio: Experimenting with state-of-the-art audio recording and synthesis with specialist Ahmed Sabry.
The best part? The final week will see participants working alongside DAF’s curatorial and exhibition teams to put together an exhibition of their own work for family and friends.
The new camp is the latest step in DAF’s expanding educational programme, following previous initiatives such as the Mazra’ah Media Art Residency and the Emerging New Media Artists Programme.
