When is the next public holiday in Saudi Arabia in 2026?
Already thinking about your next break? We’re here to help
The Eid Al-Adha break may be over, but if you’re wondering when the next public holiday is in Saudi Arabia, we’ve got the date for your diary.
The next and final public holiday of 2026 will be Saudi National Day, celebrated annually on September 23. The occasion marks the unification of the Kingdom by King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, who issued a royal decree in 1932, renaming the country the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

As the Kingdom celebrates its 96th National Day this year, the occasion serves as a reminder of how far Saudi Arabia has come since its founding.
Under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Kingdom continues to advance its Vision 2030 ambitions, driving major developments across tourism, entertainment, culture, infrastructure and technology.
National Day has become a powerful symbol of pride and belonging, bringing together citizens, residents and visitors alike to celebrate the Kingdom’s heritage, achievements and future aspirations.
Because it is a national holiday, employees in both the public and private sectors can expect a day off to celebrate.

This year, Saudi National Day falls on Wednesday September 23, which unfortunately means there is no long weekend for us. But if you’re willing to use a day’s annual leave on Thursday September 24, that could easily turn it into a four-day break when combined with the weekend.
Across the Kingdom, celebrations are expected to include spectacular fireworks displays, air shows, cultural performances, concerts, citizens decked in traditional attire, and streets decorated with the green Saudi flags.
Residents can also look forward to family-friendly events and activations, with landmarks and skyscrapers typically illuminated in the national colours.

So, while the next public holiday may still be a few months away, Saudi National Day is always one of the most vibrant dates on the Kingdom’s calendar.
