One Run returns to Riyadh, and everyone's invited to take part

From a 21-kilometre half-marathon to a casual 1-kilometre fun run

Get ready to lace up, folks. On Saturday May 23, Riyadh will join thousands of runners across the globe for One Run, an international race that takes place simultaneously in cities around the world.

Whether you’re a seasoned runner chasing a personal best or simply want to take part for the atmosphere, this one is designed for everyone.

Taking place in Wadi Namar, Riyadh as part of the global event, One Run will feature four race categories: a 21-kilometre Half Marathon, a 10-kilometre, a 5-kilometre, and a 1-kilometre Fun Run for families, beginners, and casual runners who want to join the action without committing to the longer distances.

The event is expected to bring together runners of all ages and abilities as Saudi Arabia joins the international movement celebrating fitness, community and participation through sport.

Here’s all you need to know about the One Run race in Riyadh.

When? Saturday May 23

Where? Wadi Namar, Riyadh

Why? The half marathon hits the sweet spot when it comes to race distances. It’s long enough to be an endurance test to be proud of, but not so long as to hit you for six and require training that takes over your life, plus a significant amount of recovery.

As such, whether you’re new to racing or already have plenty of half-marathon medals hanging on your wall, running 21.1 kilometres is a challenging yet attainable goal that can bring great structure to your training year.

But this isn’t one of those races reserved for serious athletes only. Not sure if running is your thing, but feeling inspired? There are also shorter race options on the same day.

The shorter categories make it easy for first-timers to join in, while the 1-kilometre Fun Run offers a more relaxed option for families, kids and anyone simply wanting to be part of the energy.

Expect a lively race-day atmosphere with music, cheering crowds, community spirit, and plenty of people hanging around afterwards for coffees, catch-ups, and post-run selfies.

To keep things running smoothly, organisers have confirmed that the 5-kilometre, 10-kilometre, and half-marathon races will all begin with a mass start.

What’s more, the course is flat and fast with some elevation gain, and the event will sell out in the blink of an eye, so speed is required long before you even lace up your race shoes.
