Watch drivers take on one of Saudi Arabia's toughest mountain roads
The Saudi Toyota Championship Hill Climb brings more than 150 competitors to Taif for a race where every second counts
Fast cars, sharp corners and a climb through the mountains of Taif. The Saudi Toyota Championship Hill Climb is back, bringing one of the Kingdom’s most thrilling motorsport events to the highlands.
Taking place from Thursday July 2 to Saturday July 4 at Aqabat Al Muhammadiya in Al Shafa, the opening round of the 2026 championship will see more than 150 drivers take on one of the Kingdom’s most challenging motorsport courses. Better yet, spectators can attend free of charge.

Held on a challenging 4.2-kilometre course, the race begins at an altitude of 1,900 metres and climbs to 2,150 metres above sea level. Along the way, drivers face technical bends, demanding corners and high-speed stretches, leaving little room for error.
Competitors are expected to take part in 10 vehicle categories, making it one of the largest and most competitive hill-climb events in Saudi Arabia.

Organised by the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation, the championship is part of the wider Saudi Toyota Championship, the Kingdom’s biggest motorsport series. Since its launch in 2019, the competition has grown steadily, attracting more drivers, larger crowds and an increasingly diverse line-up of racing disciplines.
The championship travels to different cities across Saudi Arabia throughout the season, with each location offering its own terrain, conditions and challenges. That variety has helped make the series a favourite among competitors and motorsport fans alike.
While the hill climb is all about speed against the clock, it forms part of a wider programme that includes rallying, autocross, drifting, time attack, karting and even esports competitions.

The championship’s growing popularity is yet another sign of Saudi Arabia’s thriving motorsport scene. Fans can also show their support by casting a vote for their favourite sporting event in the What’s On Saudi Arabia Awards 2026, where some of the Kingdom’s biggest events are competing for the title.
Whether you’re a dedicated motorsport fan or simply looking for an adrenaline-fuelled day out, the Saudi Toyota Championship Hill Climb offers the chance to watch some of the Kingdom’s most skilled drivers tackle one of its most demanding roads.
