Abha is getting its first Westin hotel

Abha’s mountain escape is set to welcome a new wellness-focused stay, complete with villas, chalets and sweeping views of the Asir highlands

As Saudi Arabia continues to welcome a string of new hotel openings, the spotlight is now turning to Abha. The mountain city is set to welcome its first Westin hotel, giving travellers another reason to head for the cooler climate of the Asir region.

Scheduled to open in 2031, The Westin Abha will be located in Jabal Thah Valley, close to both Abha International Airport and the city centre, making it an easy base for exploring one of the Kingdom’s most picturesque destinations.

For many in Saudi Arabia, Abha is where you go when the summer heat gets a bit too much, with cooler weather, mountain views and plenty of fresh air.

And the new hotel looks set to make the most of its surroundings, drawing inspiration from the area’s natural beauty while staying true to Westin’s signature focus on relaxation and wellbeing.

The hotel will feature 464 guestrooms, along with a collection of villas, chalets and extended-stay apartments, offering guests plenty of options whether they’re planning a quick mountain getaway or a longer retreat.

There will also be a range of restaurants, meeting and event spaces, plus wellness-focused facilities to help guests unwind after a day spent exploring the Asir region.

The announcement marks Marriott International’s first Westin property in Asir and further signals the region’s growing appeal as Saudi Arabia continues to invest in new tourism destinations beyond its major cities.

Whether you’re chasing cooler weather, mountain adventures, or simply a change of scenery, Abha is quickly becoming one of the Kingdom’s destinations to watch – and this new opening is only adding to the excitement.

While we’ll have to wait a few more years before checking in, there are already plenty of incredible hotels across Saudi Arabia worth celebrating.
