Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman named Saudi Arabia's Prime Minister

The Kingdom’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has been appointed as Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia. In a royal decree issued on Tuesday September 27 and reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), King Salman bin Abdulaziz announced a number of cabinet changes alongside the appointment of the Crown Prince as Saudi’s Prime Minister.

In addition, a further 35 appointments within the cabinet were made.
Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, previously vice minister of defense, was appointed as the new defense minister. Yousef bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Benyan was named education minister, taking over the reins from Dr. Hamad bin Mohammad Al Al-Sheikh.
According to Gulf Business, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has retained his position as interior minister; as has the minister of energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz and Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah bin Faisal will retain their posts as minister of state and minister of foreign affairs respectively. Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Jadaan will also continue as finance minister.
Ministers, officials and royals from around the region sent messages of congratulations to the new Prime Minister.

Well wishes were received by Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman from the King and Crown Prince of Bahrain, as well as Dubai’s Crown Prince, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
