It’s the mid-term break for the kids. So, this week, we’ve rounded up eight family-friendly things to do in Riyadh. From a new breakfast spot and adventure films to catch in the cinemas to circus shows and thrills and excitement at amusement parks, there are enough fun things to do to keep the whole family entertained.

Live for breakfast? Pop in at any time of the day to get a taste of Resol’s awesome selection of breakfast items. We recommend the French toast, but if you’re looking for something more on the savoury side, the egg benedict bacon will fill you up: two poached eggs with hollandaise sauce served on homemade English muffins and topped with micro herbs salad. The era of DC Universe begins

5. Celebrate Pink October with Yauatcha

In support of the breast cancer awareness campaign, Yauatcha has created special pink desserts and drinks. So, tuck into sweet treats such as the divine rose macaron, pink chocolate bonbons and the rose-shaped Raspberry Delice (a raspberry dark chocolate mousse with a lychee panna cotta centre). Oh, and be sure to order the Lady in Pink mocktail to wash it all down – it is for a good cause, after all. 7. Discover the story of Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile
Enjoy the mid-term break by heading to the cinemas to watch Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile take over the theatres in a delightful live-action musical comedy film starring Academy Award-winner Javier Bardem, Constance Wu, and everyone’s favourite the ‘mercy’ singer Shawn Mendes as Lyle. When the Primm family moves to New York City, their young son Josh struggles to adapt to his new school and new friends. However, all that changes when he discovers Lyle – a singing crocodile who loves baths, caviar and great music – living in the attic of his new home. The two become fast friends, but when Lyle’s existence is threatened by their evil neighbour Mr. Grumps, the Primms must band together with Lyle’s charismatic owner, Hector P. Valenti, to show the world that family can come from the most unexpected places and there’s nothing wrong with a big singing crocodile with an even bigger personality.

8. See urban art in action

The first edition of Shift22, an annual street art festival, unites the local community and international artists to celebrate the Kingdom’s creative excellence in street art, focusing on geometric patterns. Check out artists decorating the uninhibited Irqah Hospital with impressive and vibrant works – from murals and sculptures made from recycled materials to sound and video installations, transforming the compound into a unique night museum. There will also be seminars and workshops, live music, creative activities, and pop-up street food stands. So, if you want to go to a festival which will brighten your evening, Shift22 is the one for you.
