What’s on this week…

Whether you’re after a new film, an art exhibition or ways to kickstart your week, we have got you covered. Here are seven great things to do in Riyadh this week.

Sunday December 11

1. Embark on an epic journey with Puss in Boots

Everyone’s favourite Leche-loving, swashbuckling, fear-defying feline returns. For the first time in more than a decade, DreamWorks Animation presents a new adventure in the Shrek universe as daring outlaw Puss in Boots discovers that his passion for peril and disregard for safety have taken their toll. Puss has burned through eight of his nine lives, though he lost count along the way. Getting those lives back will send Puss in Boots on his grandest quest yet.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, Animation, Rating PG, 105min. Book your tickets here.

2. Don’t miss Ladies’ Night at Shadow Lounge

Shadow Lounge’s ladies’ night is one lively way to start the week. Enjoy a complimentary drink, and as an added bonus, you ladies also get 15 per cent off on the food menu. There’ll also be some excellent live performances to get the party going. We like the sound of that.

Ladies Night, Shadow Lounge, every Sun, 4pm to 2am, Al Takhassousi, Al Mohammadiyyah, Riyadh 12362. @shadowlounge.riyadh

4. Check out the Noor Riyadh art exhibition

The Noor Riyadh citywide artworks may have ended, but one of the festival’s highlights is its accompanying exhibition entitled “From Spark to Spirit”, co-curated by Neville Wakefield and Gaida AlMogren. The art exhibition at JAX district traces the role light plays in shaping our relationship with a world in which light itself has become a signal of change, exploring themes such as the “Technologies of Light”, “Architectonics of Light”, and “Consciousness of Light”. So, don’t miss the Noor Exhibition, whether you’re an art enthusiast or just looking for somewhere fun to hang out with your loved ones.

5. Enjoy an Izakaya-style night at ROKA

ROKA izakaya

Izakayas are to Japan what tapas bars are to Spain, and award-winning ROKA has introduced a brand-new Izakaya-style concept – a first for the capital city – inspired by Tokyo’s effusive energy. At ROKA Riyadh, the new weekly fixture will embody Japan’s vibrant culture, with a DJ and live percussionist setting the mood for an interactive evening. Diners can enjoy sumptuous dishes such as seafood dumplings with milk bread and wasabi mayonnaise, beef katsu sando, and chicken udon noodles from the a-la-carte menu, coupled with unique bottled mocktails. Plus, ladies will receive a complimentary welcome mocktail on arrival.

Round up your crew and compete in one-of-a-kind challenges for your chance to buy properties. Players will experience the thrills of passing Go, the frustration of spending a turn in Jail, gambling on a Chance Card, or scooping a prize on Free Parking.
