Saddle up for the first-ever AlUla Camel Cup
Experience the Kingdom’s oldest sport in real life…
You’ve heard of (and possibly seen) horse racing, but have you ever witnessed a camel race? Well now’s your chance, the first-ever edition of the AlUla Camel Cup is coming soon.
Launched by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the AlUla Camel Cup will crown the ‘Champion of Champions’ at a complete prize pool of SAR80 million. Talk about big bucks.
Organised by the Saudi Camel Racing Federation (SCRF), the event will be starting on Tuesday March 14 and ending on Friday March 17.

Camel carvings have been ingrained in the history of AlUla and the sport of camel racing can be traced way back to the seventh century, making it one of the region’s oldest sports. The first-ever camel race in Saudi Arabia took place in 1964.
Tickets for the massive event have been released. You can get either a daily pass for SAR50 or a four-day pass for SAR150.
Additionally, while you’re there you can also check out the heritage village, where you can enjoy entertainment, restaurants and food stalls, a qafila-style retail experience and close-to-the-action grandstand seating. Sounds fun.
The venue will open daily from 2pm to 10pm daily, and the last entry will be at 9pm. The races will take place from 4pm to 6pm daily. Limited complimentary parking is available at the venue and more complimentary parking is available at Winter Park with regular shuttles running back and forth between the two places.
