Afrobeats star Wizkid joins the MDLBeast SoundStorm 2023 line-up
Get vibin’…
Stormers, this news will get you in a big mood. Get ready for the ultimate celebration as Nigerian Afro-pop singer Wizkid is set to perform at this year’s MDLBeast SoundStorm in December.
The ‘Ojuelegba’ crooner will be taking the stage on Thursday December 14, alongside Scottish DJ and record producer Calvin Harris on the same night. Other confirmed acts for MDLBeast SoundStorm 2023 include Martin Garrix, Pharrell & Phriends, David Guetta, and J Balvin.
Wizkid’s journey to international stardom began in 2011, and since then, he has experienced a steady ascent in the music industry. Notably, in 2016, he reached the pinnacle of success by becoming the first Nigerian artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart with his mega collaboration, ‘One Dance’, alongside Drake.

Aside from his charm, stage presence, and ability to captivate audiences, his unique sound has caught the attention of listeners outside of Africa. His music seamlessly integrates elements we know and love: dancehall, rap, reggae, pop and R&B. With his versatile and infectious beats, it is no surprise that his tracks have also shaped up to be viral hits on social media.
Be it on Justin Bieber’s ‘Essence’ or Beyoncé’s ‘Brown Skin Girl’, Wizkid’s sound is unmissable in any track he features on. The release of Wizkid’s fourth album, ‘Made In Lagos’, further solidified his influence and popularity. The artist went on to achieve a groundbreaking feat, creating history by becoming the first African artist to be awarded the prestigious BRIT Billion Award. As a trailblazer for African musicians, Wizkid continues to break barriers and inspire a new generation of artists across the continent.
This will not be Starboy Wizkid’s first time performing in Riyadh, and as we wait in anticipation, we gracefully say Afrobeats to the world.
