The ultimate marathon challenge, AlUla Desert Blaze, returns this August

The heat is on. If you want to test your grit and physical limit surrounded by the beautiful landscape of AlUla in the scorching summer, the highly anticipated second edition of AlUla Desert Blaze returns on Saturday August 24.
Athletes and adventurers of all fitness levels are welcome to participate in one of the most daring yet scenic foot races in the world, with SAR176,000 in cash prizes to be won.
This remarkable event combines the spirit of adventure with the thrill of competition, offering participants an unforgettable experience like no other over distances of 5km (SAR70), 10km (SAR120), 21km (SAR200), and 42km (SAR350).
Hegra, Saudi Arabia’s first Unesco Heritage Site, is the starting point for runners participating in the short 5 km loop, 10km full loop, and 21km double loop races.
Those looking to test themselves on the arduous 42km trail will kick off from the heart of the Ashar Valley at Maraya, the record-breaking mirrored concert hall.
Woven within the magnificent desert terrain of AlUla, runners will set out on a journey across a landscape of undulating dunes, sandstone cliffs, majestic canyons, lush green oases, fertile farmland, and ancient tombs while pushing their resilience to the limits.
Water stops and medical assistance will also be placed along the way to ensure that you stay hydrated and safe during the race.
AlUla Desert Blaze marks another milestone within the year-round AlUla Moments calendar of events and festivals.
