Courtyard by Marriott, Four Points by Sheraton, and Residence Inn by Marriott will join the brand’s rapidly growing Saudi portfolio…

It’s no surprise that Saudi Arabia will welcome a whole host of new hotels in the next 12 months.

Adding to the rolling list of new hotel openings, Marriott International has finalised an agreement with Knowledge Economic City (KEC) to open three new hotels in the Holy City of Madinah.

Here’s what we know so far.

The upcoming hotels will operate under Marriott’s Courtyard by Marriott, Four Points by Sheraton, and Residence Inn by Marriott brands, catering to the diverse needs of various travellers.

Although no opening date has been set yet, these three properties, offering a combined total of over 1,200 rooms, will be integral to the KEC master plan, a transformative initiative aimed at modernising and diversifying the city’s economy.

For a home away from home, Residence Inn by Marriott Knowledge Economic City is an all-suite hotel featuring 250 studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. Each suite will have a fully equipped kitchen with a coffeemaker, microwave oven, residential-sized appliances, and large bathrooms. The property will also include a 24/7 grab-and-go market and fitness centre.

Knowledge Economic City (KEC) project

The three hotels will be located within KEC’s Islamic World District, which will consist of a museum, cultural centre and plaza showcasing the diverse Islamic cultures from around the world.

KEC is a pivotal project that will further help diversify Madinah’s economy and create a destination that provides a variety of experiences for travellers and celebrates the cultural and religious identity of the Holy City.

Spread across 6.8 million square metres, KEC is developing a world-class destination featuring hospitality, residential, retail, and commercial components, sports and recreational facilities, and high-quality education and healthcare services.

The project’s key pillars include technology, knowledge, and sustainability. The development will also be connected to the Haramain Train Station, which will be connected to a high-speed railway that links Madinah with Jeddah and Makkah.
