Saudi Arabia to offer two million seats on the Haramain Railway for Hajj 2025

Hajj 2025 is quickly approaching, and Saudi Arabia is amping up its preparations to welcome a host of Hajj pilgrims from all over the world. To facilitate travel for the pilgrims, the operational plan for  Haramain Railway for Hajj 2025  has just been announced.

During this year’s Hajj season, 4,768 trips will be operated between Dhul Qada 1 (April 29) and Dhul Hijjah 20.

As part of the operational plan for Haramain Railway for Hajj 2025, there will be a 25 per cent/400,000 seat increase compared to the previous season, to ensure safe tavel for the pilgrims.

The Haramain High-Speed Railway runs along a 453-kilometer track and connects five main stations: Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah’s Sulaymaniyyah station, King Abdulaziz International Airport station, and King Abdullah Economic City station. It is the fastest mode of transport between Makkah and Madinah, covering the distance in about two hours according to Saudi Gazette.

One of the ten fastest passenger trains in the world, the railway operates at speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour. Complete with 35 trains, each with a capacity of 417 seats, the railway produces zero carbon emissions. Launched in September 2018, it is one of the largest train projects in the Middle East.

Take your pick between the economy and business classes. In business class, you can look forward to complimentary drinks and meals, access to the cafeteria coach, and the trolley service. The economy class will have access to the cafeteria coach and the trolley service, but that’s it.
