Archer Aviation to launch air taxis in Saudi Arabia soon

The launch will happen in the UAE first

Saudi Arabia’s, more specifically Riyadh’s, traffic is something of a nightmare for drivers and passengers alike. We know this. There might be a solution coming in soon. We’re expecting to see Archer Aviation air taxis in Saudi Arabia soon.

The news comes after the company announced its plans to launch flying taxi operations in the UAE next year, per Khaleej Times. The company also announced on Wednesday that it will launch operations in Saudi Arabia.

Archer Aviation air taxis in Saudi Arabia

The Helicopter Company (THC), a subsidiary of the public wealth fund Public Investment Fund (PIF), Archer and Red Sea Global (RSG), signed the agreement at the ongoing Dubai Airshow 2025 for the development, testing, and potential integration of Archer’s eVTOL aircraft into RSG’s operations.

The electric air taxis are set to replace the seaplanes in Red Sea resorts from next year onwards. US-based Archer Aviation will start operating its Midnight electric air taxis to transfer guests to and from the resorts.

The phases

In the initial phase of the Archer Aviation air taxis in Saudi Arabia agreement, Archer will collaborate with The Helicopter Company and Red Sea Global to establish the foundational framework for their planned eVTOL operations in Saudi Arabia.

This includes a structured sandbox environment for conducting test flights with Archer’s Midnight eVTOL, assessing aircraft performance, operational feasibility, regulatory alignment, passenger acceptance, and overall ecosystem readiness.

The three companies will also be testing advanced aerial technologies, exploring long-term strategic partnerships for large-scale deployment, and supporting regional innovation to advance next-generation aviation systems.

After completing the sandbox program, all parties involved will review the results and consider further initiatives to support a larger introduction of eVTOL services.

More about the Midnight electric air taxis

Reaching speeds of up to 150 miles per hour, Midnight can turn hour-long ground commutes into minutes in the air. The design of the Midnight air taxi represents a collaboration between industrial design and aerospace engineering.
