Bonjour, Riyadh. Sofitel debuts its first hotel in Saudi Arabia's capital

Perfect for globetrotters and business travellers, Sofitel Riyadh Hotel & Convention Centre boasts 388 elegant rooms and suites, and the city’s largest luxury convention space

It’s been a long time coming, but Sofitel Riyadh Hotel & Convention Centre has officially opened in Riyadh. The hotel’s debut in Saudi Arabia’s capital is your new go-to for chic stays, luxe vibes, and French flair with a local twist.

From 388 stylish rooms and suites to the city’s largest luxury hotel convention centre, it’s perfect for when you’re planning a staycation, a grand event, or just a little indulgence.

Bonus points: You’re close to some of the iconic landmarks, including Kingdom Centre Tower, Kingdom Centre Mall, and the Unesco World Heritage site of Diriyah.

But what truly strikes is the hotel’s architecture. Inspired by the desert’s rolling dunes and the first Arabic letter of King Abdullah’s name, the design blends modern elegance with a nod to Saudi heritage.

At Sofitel Riyadh, every detail is designed to delight the senses. Dining here is an experience in itself, with a range of venues that blend craftsmanship, culture, and a hint of indulgence.

Signature restaurant Thu-rya reimagines Lebanese cuisine with a modern twist, while Zeline offers an all-day selection of international favourites in style. La Matinée invites you to linger over fine teas and delicate pastries in a tranquil lounge setting, and soon, Monsieur Boisé will elevate evenings with premium cigars paired perfectly with curated drinks.

For a lively, convivial atmosphere, Toi et Moi brings French Mediterranean flair to the table, where elegant French tradition meets the vibrant flavours of the Mediterranean.

Not to be missed is La Haute Croissanterie, Sofitel’s globally recognised signature experience, delighting guests with freshly baked artisanal pastries and iconic French viennoiseries, a luxurious start to the day or indulgence at any hour.

And when it’s time to unwind, Sofitel Spa, in partnership with Clarins, will soon offer a serene sanctuary for both men and women, complete with indoor and vitality pools, a modern Hammam, thermal facilities, and 12 treatment rooms.

As the first Clarins Spa in Riyadh, wellness seekers can look forward to a carefully curated menu of Signature and Luxury Spa experiences. These include revitalising face and body therapies, as well as indulgent Hammam and body rituals featuring Charme d’Orient, introducing the renowned French skincare brand’s holistic and hedonistic approach to wellbeing to the property.

The small details at Sofitel Riyadh are what truly make every stay memorable. Enhancing the hotel’s atmosphere of ritual and sophistication is the Sofitel Candle Ritual, an evocative brand tradition inspired by the Parisian streets once illuminated daily by candlelight during the Louis XIV era.

Beyond its lifestyle and wellness offerings, Sofitel Riyadh also establishes itself as a premier hub for business and events. The Princess Nouf International Convention Centre, the city’s largest luxury hotel convention space, spans nearly 8,500 square metres and features a grand ballroom, multiple breakout rooms, and state-of-the-art technology, accommodating up to 4,000 guests for large-scale conferences, exhibitions, and prestigious social occasions.

The opening of Sofitel Riyadh comes at a time of strong global momentum for the brand. Sofitel is currently undergoing a significant rejuvenation, with 33 per cent of its global portfolio having been renovated and close to 40 new hotels planned to open in the coming years.

Today, Sofitel operates three hotels in Saudi Arabia – in Madinah, Al Khobar and Riyadh – with two additional properties in the pipeline, including Sofitel Jabal Omar Makkah, set to become the largest Sofitel in the world.
