If it goes ahead, the event will be huge…

Over the past few years, Saudi Arabia has hosted some huge events, and now it’s going a step further. The Saudi Olympic has submitted a bid to host the 2030 Asian Games in an exciting move.

The bid was submitted by The Saudi Arabian National Olympic Committee to the Olympic Council of Asia. The huge sports event will have competitors from 45 states, with more than 10,000 male and female players taking part in 40 games.

According to statement on the Saudi Press Agency website, the bid presentation ‘highlighted the advanced infrastructure at all levels in addition to providing cultural, technological and sports experience to cope with aspirations of the Asian sports players and to guarantee ideal organizing of this great sports event in coincidence with the Kingdom’s celebration, God Willing, of achieving objectives of the Kingdom Vision 2030.’

In a statement, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Chairman of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, said: “the wise leadership’s generous support accorded to all sectors makes the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia a global destination of the most important sports events.”

He continued, “The Saudi bid to host the Asian Games 2030 affirms the leadership’s keenness to host the sports events in order to celebrate with the Asia Continent the occasion of achieving objectives of our vision 2030.”

We won’t find out for a while whether the bid was successful, as the election of the host city for the Asian Games in 2030 will be held at the OCA General Assembly on November.

The Asian Games event, which is the biggest multi-sport event in Asia runs every four years. The next time it’s on will be in 2022, where it will be held at Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China from September 10 to 25, 2022.
