New guidelines issued for travel through King Khalid International Airport
Here’s what to know
If you’re flying in or out of Riyadh, you should know there are new travel guidelines at King Khalid International Airport. The airport is still operational but has been affected by the wider regional situation. Flights are being managed carefully due to ongoing airspace disruptions; you can read more about the flights here.
The new travel guidelines at King Khalid International Airport were announced via social media yesterday for a comfortable and seamless travel experience. The airport has also issued a travel alert for passengers travelling to destinations impacted by current events. Passengers are urged to check directly with their airlines for the latest flight updates before leaving for the airport.

According to the alert, travellers should rely solely on the official communication channels of both their respective airlines and the airport for accurate information and assistance.
The guidelines
To facilitate travel procedures, please take note of the guidelines below:
- Only passengers are allowed inside the terminal.
- To ensure a timely and efficient check-in, you need to abide by your airline’s baggage guidelines.
- Issue your boarding pass electronically from your airline’s website or app before reaching the airport.
- Bring your passport or ID card, depending on whether the flight is domestic or international.
- Flight reservations must be confirmed. Make sure you arrive at least two hours ahead of your flight for domestic destinations, and three hours before the scheduled departure time for international flights.
- Bring any and all travel documents you may need, such as visas, a health passport, and medical insurance for children under the age of 12.
If you need to change or cancel your reservation, please contact the airline directly and learn more about your rights as a passenger.
King Khalid International Airport
Unlike some Gulf airports that temporarily suspended operations altogether, RUH has remained open – although certain flights may be delayed, diverted, or cancelled depending on evolving airspace advisories and airline decisions made with safety in mind.
