Dave's Hot Chicken is opening in Jeddah this weekend
The LA-born, Riyadh-favourite spot is set to take over the Red Sea city soon
If you (like us) are always down for some fried chicken, you’d be happy to know that Dave’s Hot Chicken Jeddah is officially opening its doors this weekend. The no-fuss, mega-popular fast-casual sensation is bringing its mouthwateringly thick hunks of chicken (spices in tow) all to Jeddah, and we couldn’t be more excited.
The wildly popular, Nashville-style hot chicken chain from Los Angeles (LA), with rappers and actors for investors, is debuting its first location outside Riyadh in Jeddah’s U Walk in the Al Zahra district.
The hot chicken chain was brought to Saudi Arabia in partnership with Lavoya Restaurant Group, the minds behind mega Lebanese eatery Barber in Riyadh as well.
The menu is pretty straightforward: four meal options, each available with all the customisable heat levels you’ve seen on Instagram (we’re looking at you, Reaper), and sides include regular fries, cheese fries, mac and cheese, and kale slaw too.
Heat levels start at no spice (for the kiddos and the uninitiated) and go right up to Reaper, which can potentially make adults cry (we may be talking about ourselves here). Medium-tier options also exist with lite, mild, mild, medium, and just before the coveted reaper are the hot and extra-hot.
Here’s what to expect when it comes to ordering the reaper. The marinade for the chicken is made of the Carolina Reaper chili; the chicken is then fried and coated with even more spices, and it’s only available to daring customers who actually have to sign a waiver.
For those who are not familiar with Dave’s Hot Chicken, the chicken shack’s humble roots date back to 2017, when four childhood friends (Tommy and Gary Rubenyan, Arman Oganesyan, and Dave Kopushyan) scrambled together $900 in savings to pop up in an East Hollywood parking lot. Long lines ensued to curb West Coast poultry cravings for the Nashville dish, sparking the birth of its first brick-and-mortar in LA.
