KSA weather update: More rain on the way for most Saudi regions

The NCM forecast was just revealed

The weather has been one of the most unpredictable things in Saudi Arabia for the last few days (sandstorms, rain, high-speed winds, you name it, we had it). And according to the National Centre for Meteorology (NCM), more rain is expected in Saudi Arabia.

The forecast states that moderate to heavy rain is expected to hit across most regions of Saudi Arabia from Monday to Friday.

According to the centre’s forecasts, the regions of Makkah, Al-Baha, Asir, Jazan, Najran, Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, Tabuk, Al-Jouf, the Northern Borders, and the Eastern Province will be experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall.

Currently, a yellow weather alert is active across the regions of Riyadh, Makkah, Asir, Jazan, and the Eastern Province.

The Riyadh region, including Riyadh, Al Kharj, and Wadi Al Dawasir, is experiencing active winds and dust, causing reduced visibility (3–5 kilometres). Meanwhile, in the Eastern Province, including Dammam, Al Ahsa, and Jubail, there is dust and suspended particles in the air, along with moderate to strong winds.

The Makkah region (mainly Taif and the outskirts of Makkah) is currently experiencing an orange alert, complete with thunderstorms, light-to-moderate rainfall, and occasional lightning.  This alert sometimes includes thunder strikes, reduced visibility, and active winds accompanying rainfall. The Asir region (mainly Abha and Khamis Mushait), on the other hand, is experiencing rain, fog in high elevations, and thunderstorms. Lastly, the Jazan region and its surroundings are experiencing rain showers and thunderstorms.

For all of these alerts, sudden weather shifts are the main concerns so stay tuned for the latest.

According to Saudi Gazette, the NCM urged the public to follow reports and warnings issued regarding the expected weather conditions through its website, social media channels, and the Anwaa application.

The National Centre of Meteorology alerts always include start and end times, which are important because conditions shift quickly, so keep checking here for the latest.
