Hajj leave rules in Saudi Arabia have just been announced

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in Saudi Arabia has just announced the Hajj leave rules in Saudi Arabia. If you’re planning on performing Hajj this year, here’s what you need to know.

According to the regulations governing labour rights in the Kingdom, employees are entitled to paid leave of up to 15 days to perform Hajj, per Gulf News.

The ministry stated that eligible workers can take between 10 and 15 days of paid leave, including the Eid Al Adha holiday, provided they have completed at least two consecutive years of service with their employer.

The Hajj leave rules also added that Hajj leave may be granted only once during an employee’s period of employment and only if they have not previously performed the pilgrimage. Although the ministry has also said that employers retain the right to determine how many staff may be granted leave each year, based on operational requirements.

How to register for Hajj 2026

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah explained in its statement that applicants wishing to perform Hajj can review the packages and choose the most suitable one and then issue a booking invoice and pay using the “SADAD” system. 

  • Login is done through the Nusuk app via the Nafath platform.
  • Complete your profile and qualification
  • Choose the right package
  • Pay the booking fee
  • Then issue the Hajj permit.

The ministry clarified that the payment deadline after booking the package is 72 hours, and this deadline will be valid until Dhul Qada 27, corresponding to May 14, and then the deadline for payment will be reduced to only 6 hours starting from May 15. This is to ensure the opportunity for booking for the largest possible number of beneficiaries. Bookings will be automatically cancelled if payment is not received within the specified deadline according to Saudi Gazette.
