Saudi Arabia never runs short of incredible art displays and exhibitions, be it in Riyadh or Jeddah. We love our exhibitions, and thankfully, they love us right back, as there is always a plethora to check out. Now, we get to check out something completely new. Are you ready for the first-ever dual art exhibition in the UAE and Saudi Arabia?
Happening in Jeddah from Wednesday May 20 to Saturday October 17, and in Dubai from Saturday May 9, to Sunday, October 4, the two-part group show, titled “Global Positioning System”, will open at Hayy Jameel in Jeddah, alongside a presentation at Jameel Arts Centre in Dubai.

The exhibition brings together more than 40 artists from over 20 countries to explore how navigation systems shape contemporary life. Through a wide range of works, the show examines mapping, mobility and the infrastructures that govern movement, while questioning their limitations and failures.
Per Arab News, this first-ever dual art exhibition in the UAE and Saudi Arabia was curated by Indranjan Banerjee and Lucas Morin. “Global Positioning System” spans large-scale installations, conceptual works and research-driven projects.
More about Hayy Jameel
Hayy Jameel was developed and is managed by Art Jameel as Saudi Arabia’s dedicated arts complex and creative hub. Designed by Waiwai, Hayy references the Arabic word for ‘neighbourhood’, denoting the convivial and collaborative nature of the complex and its intent on bringing together a wide range of creative disciplines in one destination. Alongside the museum, the entity also operates Hayy Arts; education platforms Hayy Learning and Hayy Studios; Hayy Cinema, Saudi Arabia’s first independent audiovisual centre, designed by Jeddah-based architects Bricklab; and Hayy Explorers, a ‘drop-in’ children’s zone, featuring a year-long dynamic programme. Fenaa Hayy, Salaat Hayy, Community Cinema & Project Space are multi-purpose spaces for performances, workshops and talks.
