You can now skydive over AlUla's breathtaking desert landscapes

Plan your next bucket list adventure

When it comes to bucket-list items that give you an adrenaline rush, few activities can get your heart racing like leaping out of a plane. Skydiving is one of those exhilarating experiences that every self-proclaimed daredevil should give a try at least once in their lives.

You simply can’t beat the feeling of seeing an entire landscape unfold beneath you at thousands of feet high.

Better still, you don’t even have to leave our shores.

Take the leap with a tandem skydive in AlUla

For a limited time, thrill-seekers can now skydive over the ancient landscapes of AlUla, soaring above sandstone cliffs, sweeping desert valleys, and oasis views that look even more surreal from thousands of feet in the air.

Running from Thursday May 21 to Saturday May 30, the tandem skydiving experience begins with a heart-racing freefall at speeds of more than 200 km/h, before settling into a parachute glide above one of Saudi Arabia’s most striking destinations.

While this may sound scary at first, free-falling usually only lasts for about 60 seconds before the parachute is deployed. The remainder of the activity is a scenic drift back to Earth.

The jumps take off from AlUla International Airport, with participants securely harnessed to certified instructors throughout the experience. So even if you’ve never skydived before, you’re in safe hands.

There are two packages available: a tandem jump with handheld camera footage priced at SAR2,099, or a premium option with a dedicated cameraman capturing your entire freefall from the skies above AlUla.

And while AlUla is already known for its dramatic scenery, heritage sites, and luxury desert escapes, this feels like a completely different way to experience the destination.

One minute you’re nervously strapped into a plane; the next you’re floating above vast desert landscapes that almost don’t look real.

The experience is open to visitors aged 18 to 75, and advance booking is required. Guests are also advised to arrive at least two hours before their scheduled jump time.

If this sounds like your thrill-seeking cup of tea, then maybe it’s time to give this extreme sport a try.
