Jeddah to host the Formula E 2026-2027 season opener this year

The races are first up on the schedule…

After hosting a stellar race weekend earlier in the year, Jeddah will once again be the backdrop for two iconic night races as part of the 2026-2027 season. Here’s everything we know about the Formula E 2026-2027 opener in Jeddah.

Racing back to the Red Sea city, the Formula E 2026-2027 opener in Jeddah will be happening from Friday December 18 to Saturday December 19 at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship calendar will begin at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit with rounds one and two for the first time, marking a very exciting time in the Kingdom’s history with the world’s leading electric racing championship.

The season marks the debut of the sustainable 600 kW (over 815 hp) GEN4 car, built from 100 per cent recyclable or reusable materials. It will also welcome a transformative new race format for double-header race weekends, featuring the classic  race (E-Prix) and an all-new shorter race (E-PrixUnleashed).

Featuring its most expansive season yet with 21 races across 13 global cities, highlights include the season opener in Jeddah, new races at The Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin (US) and MASCOT Zandvoort Circuit (NL), as well as a new home for the London E-Prix at the iconic Brands Hatch circuit (UK).

To accommodate the GEN4’s superior power, the championship is expanding its use of permanent, world-class tracks while maintaining its city-racing identity.

After a global tour across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, optimised regionally to minimise shipping emissions, the historic championship will conclude in July 2027 with double-headers in Shanghai and Tokyo.

Formula E’s journey in the Kingdom began in 2018 in Diriyah, marking the first chapter of electric motorsport excitement and competition, after which the double-header was moved to Jeddah in 2025.
