Glamping goals: Check out Habitas' new caravan retreat in AlUla

In an otherworldly AlUla Valley, retro airstream trailers are the new way to stay in the desert….

Looking to really connect with the otherworldly AlUla landscape? Habitas has added a new string to its bow in the Kingdom, which promises a glamping experience – but not as you know it. Caravan by Habitas is located a five-minute drive from the Habitas resort, and welcomes visitors to adventure, explore and play in a fun-filled new resort destination.

Glampers checking-in at Caravan by Habitas benefit from all of the perks of the nearby resort, including Tama restaurant, the incredible infinity pool and curated fitness and wellness spaces. But rather than Bedouin-inspired tents, accommodation here is in the form of 22 retro Airstream trailers tucked into the AlUla valley.

Each is fitted with cosy twin or neat double beds and has its own kitchenette, dining space and separate shower and toilet, making it a comfortable and well equipped base to serve as your AlUla starting point. It’s been given the Habitas treatment with a day bed fitted under a shaded terrace and soft furnishings in aztec prints scattered throughout.

The Caravan rooms also feature a variety of hidden details to look out for, such as coloring books, disco lights and a sound system, curated books, theraguns and scalp massagers, all in place for no greater reason than to ensure you have fun and switch off.

There’s separate facilities – called ‘gathering spaces’ for Caravan by Habitas guests, which take influence from ancient Bedouins who traveled the land and incense routes. These include the central Gathering Tent, where guests can connect over retro games, books and toys or meet for shisha, tea or traditional Arabic coffee. At night a large fire pit with circular seating invites guests to sit under the star flooded sky.

Then there’s a trio of vintage food trucks – accompanied by a family-style dining area with communal tables and cushioned seating – where guests can gather for fresh croissants at breakfast or pizzas in the afternoon.

True to Habitas’ six programming pillars – music, wellness, adventure, culture, learning, and culinary – the experience includes a roster of cultural discourse, interactive art installations and adventure programming. Visitors looking to explore the AlUla landscape can look forward to canyon crossing, desert treks, horse riding, star gazing and more. After a day filled with adventure, guests can retreat to the comforts of Caravan by Habitas for the outdoor cinema, with movies projected onto the rock face, and stuff their faces with freshly made popcorn.
