Cheers to the weekend…

The weekend’s here, and if you’re looking for things to do in Riyadh, we’ve got you covered. There’s a visit to the museum, a new burger joint to check out, and even an art workshop.

Here are eight splendid things to do in Riyadh this weekend.

Thursday May 12

1. Visit the National Museum of Saudi Arabia

Look forward to exciting interactive programmes at the National Museum of Saudi Arabia. Get acquainted with Islamic decorations used in the old ages and use them to design your own congratulation or gratitude cards. You can also make bookmarks inspired by the various plants that grow in the Kingdom.

You come to Abu Najm for one reason: the burger. Serving only three types of burgers, their burgers are classic and the perfect size without being overloaded with toppings. The Abu Najm Beef is excellent: juicy patty, tacky melted American cheese, lettuce and sauce. Throw in perfect fries, and this really is a place you will be coming back to regularly.

4. Discover the art of mixology at LPM Riyadh

LPM drinks

No matter the time of year, everyone enjoys a good, refreshing drink that doesn’t skimp on flavour, even if it is non-alcoholic. In celebration of World Cocktail Day on May 13, LPM Riyadh introduces Frescoes. This artistic mocktail brings together light bursts of peach, almond, and clementine with the complexity of Juniper syrup for an irresistible touch of savoury umami. Topped off with a delightful garnish of Juniper berries, the combination is a match made in heaven. Other recommended drinks at LPM include the Menthe À L’Eau Fizz – Strawberry, an elevated take on the classic Mojito, and the classic Tomati-NO mocktail, a rendition of LPM’s global signature drink Tomatini.

LPM Riyadh, King Fahd Road, Street No. 38, Al Motassem Street, Al Olaya (behind Al Faisaliah Hotel), Sun to Thurs 12.30pm to 3.30pm, 6.30pm to 11pm, Fri & Sat 1pm to 4pm, 6.30pm to 11pm. @lpmriyadh

5. Shop for beautiful furniture for the home

aura

Chances are, you’ve popped into Saudi homeware brand aura, and have been soothed by the warm, modernised 1960s style of its spring-summer collection. Suppose you’re looking for beautiful furniture for your home. In that case, some of its notable signature styles include the Sedia side chair with its faded green, unique dual-fabric effect or the Maltese coffee and side tables in dark marble finishes. Our favourite accent piece? The unique three-legged Croix side chair is complemented with pale pink accessories that lend a rich and luxurious accord. Designed with versatility in mind, products within the range can easily be mixed and matched for eye-catching aesthetics.
