The interior decor and friendly atmosphere of this place will welcome you heartily. From the classic eggs benedict to fluffy pancakes topped with marshmallow fluff and praline chocolate sauce, this restaurant will make you fall for their menus. If you like your avo on toast (like us), this place is for you – think perfectly poached eggs, seared mushrooms, tahini, smashed avo topped with feta, shallots and crispy pine nuts. Yum.

This warehouse-style cafe has a buzzy atmosphere and a relaxed, laid-back vibe. Menu-wise, you’ll find halloumi with pesto sauce sandwich, plus beetroot falafel and chicken sumac wrapped in a wholewheat tortilla. But don’t miss the bakery-fresh pastries and desserts – their cinnamon pecan rolls are our fave.

Knead Bakery, Sari Branch Rd, Al Khalidiyyah, Jeddah 23445, Sun to Thu, Sat 7am to 2am, Fri 7am-11am & 1pm to 2pm. Tel: 055 516 8267. @knead_ksa

As far as Jeddah breakfast places go, this is a classic choice. The breakfast menu at Maison de Zaid offers a jazzed-up version of avo on toast, served with perfectly poached eggs, roasted capsicums and asparagus, fluffy pancakes drenched with pistachio sauce, and an Arabic breakfast platter. The coffee menu is extensive, along with teas, detox juices, and a hot chocolate for those with a sweet tooth.

Maison de Zaid, Abdul Maqsud Khojah, Ar Rawdah, Jeddah 23435, Sat to Wed 7am to 1am, Thu 7am to 2am, Fri 7am to 11.30am & 1pm to 2am. Tel: 054 374 5284. @maisondezaid

Marmalade

No matter where you choose to have breakfast in Jeddah, Marmalade will always top our list. The brioche with grilled spicy halloumi, harissa and juicy tomato is enough to make you go weak on the knees. Marmalade also offers the delicious ‘e.g.y.’ (poached eggs with Greek and red pepper yoghurt on sesame bagel, drizzled with basil oil and chilli oil), feta shakshuka, and classic French toast.

Marmalade, Al Murjan, Jeddah 23715, Mon to Sat 9am to 4pm. Tel: 050 808 7744. @marmalade.sa

Waiting in line is expected at this much-loved café, and that’s usually a good indicator of how great the food is. The menu here is fun and varied. Try the crab bagel for a more decadent option. But what draws most people to Siblings is the Siblings Pancakes (ricotta pancakes served with honeycomb butter, blueberries, and maple syrup), Father’s Favourite, which features butternut shakshuka with avocados, feta, spicy Greek yoghurt and pretzel, as well as the incredible avocado toast.

Siblings Restaurant & Cafe, 2603 Al Imam Malek, Ar Rawdah, Jeddah 23435, daily 8.15am to 5.30pm. @siblings.sa

The Morning Call

This new café serves up a simple and crowd-pleasing breakfast. Dig into treats such as truffle scrambled egg croissant, maple butter pancakes, or French toast glazed with salted caramel sauce. For sturdier stuff, opt for Croque madame or the potato hash topped with fried eggs and crispy bacon. The tartines (available in four flavours: avo-beet, mushroom-kale, peanut butter-granola, and ricotta-figs) will see you through the morning, too. We suggest booking ahead before coming.

The Morning Call, Halima Al Saadiyah, Al Mohammadiyyah, Jeddah 23623, Mon to Sat 8am to 3pm. Tel: 053 005 2473. @themorningcall.sa

Urth Caffé is a favourite for those who love any and all baked goods, top-notch paninis, and the staple of our morning routine, coffee. If you’re feeling hungry, hearty plates such as Urth English Breakfast (eggs, potatoes, mushrooms, oven-roasted tomatoes, turkey bacon, chicken sausages, and wholewheat toast), hot buttermilk pancakes, and the Mediterranean shakshuka should fill you up nicely. Fruit and grains are also up for grabs, but let’s face it, that’s not why you’re here.

Urth Caffe, Le Prestige Mall, 8548-8350 Mitab Ibn Awf, Ash Shati, Jeddah 23414, daily 7am to 1am. Tel: 9200 07498. @urthcaffesaudi
